Mamie Clark
Potter Intern

Hi, my name is Mamie Clark. I am a soon-to-be senior at University of Kentucky, studying Earth and Environmental Science. Though I will be headed into my 4th undergraduate year, I still feel new the geology and the earth sciences. Sophomore year, I switched my biology major out for my current one because I no longer felt drawn to pursue biology, but liked how the earth sciences offered a mix of all sciences. So far, I am interested in just about everything, but I really like topics that combine geology and life, and how they can affect each other, like geohazards and alternative energy.
This summer, I am working with the Kentucky Geologic Survey as an intern, researching how microbial communities respond to disturbances in their landscape, and how they may help stabilize soil and prevent erosion. I am very for all this summer holds, with hikes, maybe the occasional cave crawl, and hopefully avoiding all ticks everywhere (and not jinx myself in the process).
